An Unexpected Occurance
But I’m getting ahead of myself, it looked like it was going to be an evening like any other. We were watching the Olympics on TV, then suddenly the screen went blank. My dad got up to bang the TV, that’s how he fixes things, he bangs his fist on things. “Oh, damn!” said my dad, “I was so looking forward to watch the Olympics.” Since I had nothing to do, I walked out on to the balcony to look at the stars. There was streak of light flash across the night sky, I thought it was a comet, so I lowered my head and made a wish.
Suddenly, my dad shouted “Look son! Something just hit the nearby forest, why don’t we go check it out!” “Hit the forest.” I thought. “So it couldn’t have been a comet! A comet would’ve wiped out life as we know it!” So I put on my coat and went to the forest with my parents. But when we reached the forest, policemen were already cordoning the area, a policeman came to us and asked us to go home. Before we were just curious, but now we burning of need to get to the bottom of the mystery. So we doubled back and found our way to the crash site without getting spotted. What we saw of first was glowing, then when we went closer, we realized it was a satellite in flames, on the side of the satellite, I could just make out the words said “OLYMPIC NO.1” “Then it hit me, the screen must have went blank when the satellite started to crash! That was why we weren’t able to watch the Olympics.” “Hey, what’s that!” shouted my mum when she pointed to something in the sky. “It must be a parachute!” I said. “So it was a manned satellite with an ejector seat!” said my dad. My dad is very clever and always says things like that. The parachute got tangled in the branches, fortunately my dad climbed up the tree and cut the strings of the parachute with his pocket knife. “What happened?” I asked the astronaut. “I don’t know.” He said “Another satellite must have crashed into my satellite and fell to earth.” “And by the way, is there anything I can do to repay you for helping me?”
“Well, are you any good with TV’s?” I asked. “No but I have this new gadget from NASA that doesn’t require satellites to watch the Olympics.” He said, while taking out a silver tablet out of his skinny trousers. “You can use it while I ask NASA to pick me up.”
“Go, Michael Phelps!” I yelled, jumping up and down, suddenly a firm hand gripped my shoulder, “I thought I asked you to go home.” said the policeman, but his grip loosened when he saw the tablet, “Hey! Isn’t that iPad3?” “Yeah, come to watch with us?” asked my dad. So in the end there was a different kind of glowing object than the one that began this story.
